It has been a full year since we moved into our new space. The moving boxes are unpacked, the walls are filled with pictures and artwork, and our desks and work stations are settled in. It’s humbling to see the progress and growth Denver Indian Health and Family Services has made over the past year. We welcomed a Family Nurse Practitioner, three Behavioral Health Therapists, a part-time Medical Doctor, and additional support staff to keep up with the demands of our clinic. We encounter new obstacles everyday including space and parking limitations. It is the nature of most organizations to struggle with these issues as the landscape of Denver changes. Cost of space and parking are at the forefront for many nonprofits in the Denver area. We are fortunate to be in a space that currently meets most of our needs; however, we will have to be creative in how we expand services in the coming years. As we work through the everchanging facets of our clinic, we are proud of the quality of care we provide and acknowledge we can always improve.
In the next year, we are stepping back to reflect on how we can improve the quality of services within our clinic. With an award from the Rose Foundation, we will work with a consultant to create a quality improvement plan, update policies, and expand customer service in all programs. These improvements will allow us to have transparent policies to guide our clinic in the coming years. Customer service is always our highest priority; therefore, we welcome feedback from our community on how we can better serve our patients. As you visit our clinic, we will have a feedback box on our resource table and we invite anyone to leave their comments. Wising all our friends and families a safe and happy holidays and new year!
