Diabetes Care, Management & Prevention
DiabetesA diabetes educator teaches culturally-appropriate approaches to self-management and skills such as glucose monitoring, nutrition therapy, and foot care to American Indian diabetics. Self-management skill development can help control blood sugar and prevent complications from diabetes. Screenings, annual eye exams, foot checks, glucometers and supplies are available. The prevention of diabetes through healthful lifestyle choices is taught to American Indian youth as well. Diabetes PreventionA fitness trainer provides community fitness activities, educates patients on the importance of fitness, trains and works with patients on an individual and group basis, and provides fitness assessments. |
